Kate Schapira
Pretty Owl Poetry is excited to debut its new online reading series, which features poets and prose writers who’ve been published in the journal. This month, we’re kicking things off with poet Kate Schapira. She discusses her poem “What shall we name the baby?“, featured in the first issue of Pretty Owl Poetry.
Kate Schapira lives in Providence, Rhode Island, where she writes, teaches, and co-runs the Publicly Complex Reading Series. She’s the author of four books of poetry, most recently The Soft Place (Horse Less Press), and her ninth chapbook, Overheard While Hiding from the Sun, is forthcoming from Above/Ground Press.
In this Google Hangout on Air, Kate discusses the symbolism behind her poem, her creative process, and current writing endeavors.
Thanks again, Kate, for “hanging” with us! And stay tuned for future online readings.
