We Stand in Solidarity
There are not enough words to speak to the atrocity of racism in the US. As a literary journal committed to the distribution of art and progressive thought, it is our responsibility at Pretty Owl Poetry to support and give voice to the revolution. We will continue to do so.
Pretty Owl Poetry stands with the Black Lives Matter movement. We stand with the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Atatiana Jefferson, Tony McDade, and so many others.
At POP, we know we have work to do. Our editorial staff is entirely white passing and while we encourage BIPOC authors and artists to submit to our journal, we know we can do more. We will keep you updated on a plan going forward to fix these issues.
We are donating and supporting protestors and hope you are doing the same. We encourage you to sign petitions, call your representatives, be there for loved ones, make space for BIPOC voices, have hard conversations, and help in whatever way you can. We know that not all forms of protest look the same and that the best thing you can do is be educated on the long history of racism in the US.
If you can, donate below:

We are grateful to our readers for supporting us. We welcome your thoughts and ideas for how we can support this movement. You can reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org. There is so much work to do and we look forward to doing it with you.
In Solidarity and Love,
